20,000 Diapers Collected (and Counting!) for No Child Wet Behind

Did you know that diapers can’t be purchased through government assistance programs like WIC, but diaper need affects 1 in 3 families in the United States? According to the Hampton Roads Doulas and the Greater Hampton Roads Diaper Bank, 30% of families cannot afford enough diapers to change their babies often enough to keep them clean and safe from infection.

That’s why those two important agencies have teamed up to raise awareness and hopefully get diaper donations for needy families through “No Child Wet Behind.”

There are currently diaper donation boxes dispersed in businesses and storefronts all over Hampton Roads to bring awareness to the issue and to gather donations to be presented to GHR Diaper Bank. There have already been over 20,000 diapers collected through this drive! The drive wraps up with the 1st annual No Child Wet Behind Diaper Drive & 5K and family 1 mile run. It’s happening this Sunday, May 22nd, at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach. The event runs from 8 a.m.to noon.
