This weekend, in a fierce competition of strength and speed, the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office once again dominated!
For the tenth year in a row, they took home first place in the Special Olympics Virginia Dulles Plane Pull.
More than 1,200 people from across D.C., Maryland and Virginia competed to pull a 164,000+ pound Airbus airplane 12-feet the fastest. The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office did it in 4.8 seconds!
The annual event, which originated in 1933, is one of Special Olympics Virginia’s biggest fundraisers. The 25-member teams must raise at least $1,500 just to participate. This year’s event raised a record $325,000!
