This guy knows how you can give back to the Hampton Roads community this weekend by drinking beer with your friends. The secret: Beach Ambassadors.
They’re a Virginia Beach-based community organization that focuses on raising funds and awareness for Hampton Roads-based nonprofits.
Four years ago, Beach Ambassadors President Jeff Hubbard and some of his pals were stumped. “We were trying to figure out how to give back to the community. For young professionals, it’s not that easy,” said Hubbard.
He has a point. We all know that there are plenty of organizations around Hampton Roads that could use our help, but when was the last time you helped out, short of writing a check, then writing it off on your taxes?
The six original Beach Ambassadors decided to just do it themselves. They started planning social and sporting events to benefit local charities. They got the ball rolling and they have several successful ongoing and annual events and now they’re focused on branching out and going big: More Cities. More Ambassadors. More Giving Back.
The Ambassadors are all young professionals, but everyone with a willing spirit is welcome. Step outside your community niche. Cross a bridge or a tunnel. Make some new friends and help your community!
You’re hooked now, aren’t you? Here’s how to find out more about the Beach Ambassadors: visit their website by clicking here. One of their most celebrated events is this weekend; the Battle of the Beers at Tapped in Hilltop. Swing by, drink some beer, and check it out.
If you can’t make it Saturday, the Beach Ambassadors always have cool things going on. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more information.
Hampton Roads is an amazing community with so much to offer and give. “Ordinary people can do extraordinary things,” says Hubbard. “People who get that will have a good time with Beach Ambassadors, that’s for sure.”
