Despite the hot and humid weather this weekend, runners still came to Williamsburg to take on a half-marathon challenge to conclude the Patriot Running Festival, held Friday through Sunday.
The Patriot Running Festival included the 5K on Friday, 8K on Saturday and 13.1-mile event today. Runners who achieved the Patriot Challenge completed the 8K and 13.1, while the most daring participants ran the Warrior Challenge, which included all three days of events.
The runs benefited An Achievable Dream (AAD), a non-profit organization that operates two nationally recognized K-12 schools in partnership with a public school system. AAD helps educate children, regardless of socioeconomic background, in a nurturing environment with the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with caring adults, according to the festival website.
