Below is the schedule of events throughout the day and night:
12 p.m. – Relay Launch
3 p.m. – Entertainment begins
5:30 p.m. – Survivor reception
7 p.m. – Opening Ceremony. The ceremony will honor those who have been affected by cancer and everyone who has contributed to this year’s Relay season.
7:15 p.m. – Survivor Lap
7:30 p.m. – Caregiver Lap
10 p.m. – Luminaria Ceremony. During this ceremony, participants will honor those who have been affected by cancer. Each light represents a life—a life taken by cancer, a survivor of cancer or a support for a person still fighting the disease.
2 a.m. – Closing Ceremony. This will be a celebration of what participants have accomplished together and a time to unify for the work that needs to be done moving forward.
The @RelayForLife has begun with help from the Deep Creek High School Drumline! The number of survivors, caregivers, and supporters is absolutely inspiring. Let’s find a cure! @WAVY_News #RelayForLife pic.twitter.com/vZmh8vSUEg
