Adopt-a-Tree Event Going Down in Norfolk

Want to spruce up the landscaping around your home with a fruit and/or nut-tree? The City of Norfolk along with Friends of Norfolk’s Environment (FONE) and Master Gardeners, are hosting Jammin’ Jams an adopt-a-tree event. The event will take place Saturday, January 30th at the Ernie Morgan Center at 3500-A Granby Street from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

You can pick from the following trees; Anna apple, Ein Shemer apple, Golden Delicious apple, Kieffer pear, Brown Turkey fig, Blue Damsum plum, Methley plum, Fuyu persimmon, Pawpaw (Collin’s Select), Sam Houston peach, Suwanee peach, Pawnee pecan and Allegheny chinquapin. The trees are adopted out at no cost, but it is only one per household while they last.

The event will also feature canning/cooking demonstration, jam recipes and tasting with Master Gardeners a beekeeping demonstration with Tidewater Beekeepers.
