SUFFOLK, Va. – The Suffolk Art Gallery is hosting three events in late February and March looking at digital art, printmaking and textile painting.
The workshops start Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with printmaking led by Cynthia Quesenberry. She will lead people in learning techniques like mixed media collage and monoprinting with a variety of comb tools, texdtures and stencils. The fee is $55. The deadline is Feb. 21.
The textile painting workshop is two days from Feb. 21 to Feb. 22 starting at 1 p.m. and ending at 4 p.m. each day. Participants will learn from Cynthia Cossu who will instruct in various mediums including pigmented inks to permanently color a pre-quilted textile piece. The class is for ages 14 and up with a maximum of 10 students. The fee is $50. Deadline is Feb. 13.
The third workshop is March 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and hosted by Glen McClure. He will lead students in “The Digital Portrait” and teach how to use light in making simple portraits. The news release said students should be familiar with the camera they bring to the class. The fee is $50 and is for ages 16 and up. Deadline is March 20.
