The visitors, staff, and patients at CHKD are enjoying some new art on their walls.
Esteban del Valle, an interdisciplinary artist and muralist, has created an original mural for the hospital.
It was unveiled today to patients and the media, but it’s not quite finished yet.
You’ve seen Del Valle’s work in Norfolk’s NEON district. There he has a mural titled, “We Can Create What We Imagine.” He has also completed dozens of murals around the world.
Del Valle’s mural design at CHKD focuses on the idea of imagination as flight. The mural is meant to inspire creativity, excitement and enthusiasm in the young patients. Ultimately, it’s supposed to help them feel empowered by their imagination as they heal.
What a lovely way to brighten the halls of Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters!
