There’s a new kid on the brewing block in the Williamsburg area, sort of. Brass Cannon Brewing is opening their new location on Mooretown Road after being in the Toano area for four years.
Brass Cannon started as most breweries do, with friends getting together to home brew and then deciding to take it to the next level. When Phil Norfolk, Tony Artrip and Scott made the decision to take that leap, they originally settled into a warehouse complex. The three built everything in that location themselves since they started with limited funds.
Even though they fought some early challenges, the guys at Brass Cannon filled up their tiny tasting room. But they wanted to step up what they were offering and really hit the locals and tourism population of Williamsburg.
So a move to brand-new building on Mooretown Road was the next step. They launched a Kickstarter to help with expenses. Also they were rewarded a Tourism Grant by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe and as well as one from York County.
The brewery is looking forward to not only helping with tourism of Williamsburg, but also for the Hampton Roads craft beer region.
