Happy National Beer Day!
Last week we talked about the craft beer geekiness of The Barrel Room, but what other offerings does Hampton Roads have to offer if you feel like trying a brew that’s just a little different?
Here are a few local breweries in the area who are sure to help you celebrate all the joys of amber ale. Let’s look at some by city:
Norfolk– O’Connor Brewing
O’Connor is a well-established Norfolk brewery with open hours and a retail store. They offer the beer spectrum and even a few seasonal brews.
Virginia Beach– Pleasure House Brewing
Pleasure House Brewing prides itself on being local! They are closed Monday and Tuesday but on the days they’re open they have a very neighborly feel.
Chesapeake– Big Ugly Brewing
Big Ugly Brewing in Chesapeake isn’t open today and it’s fairly young. However we wanted to put this on your beer-radar because of the presence in Chesapeake and their expected attendance at the Great Dismal Swamp Stomp on Saturday.
Williamsburg– Ale Werks
This brewery offers weekly events and daily tours. As fitting for their hometown, Ale Werks also offers a couple historical brews so you can drink like our founding fathers!
Suffolk– Bench Top Brewing
Bench Top has yet to debut, but there’s plenty of buzz already. They’re planning to make their beer menu public late summer or fall of this year.
This is not all the craft beer Hampton Roads has to offer. In fact, this barely scrapes the surface. Keep checking hrScene.com and we’ll update you on the best and most refreshing local beers of the season!
