Chesapeake Sheriffs Welcome College Cadet Program Graduates

The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office held their first basic school graduation for the Sheriff’s Office Cadet Program. Ten College Students graduated as friends and family watched. Representatives from their respective universities were also present.

The program works with Old Dominion and Norfolk State Universities. Candidates are able to get practical experience in criminal justice that wouldn’t normally be accessible.

After the 13-week academy, graduates then start working part-time in the correctional facility to supplement the full-time deputies.

The graduation was held at Oscar Smith High School.
