Dinosaurs are Alive in Newport News

Those who walked the Earth millions of years ago are now on display at the Virginia Living Museum. The Dinosaur Discovery Trail is now open as a permanent exhibit at the Newport News facility.

The Dinosaurs were so popular during their summer run for 25 years, that the VLM decided to give them a forever home in collaboration with their 50th anniversary.

Visitors will walk through the woods to see realistic one-third to full-size dinosaurs from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The dinosaurs will range in size from a mini Ankylosaur to a 16-foot-tall Brachiosaurus.

The trail will also include a Paleontology camp with dig pits. Also dinosaur and Ice Age fossil exhibits, including one with an actual whale specimen from Hampton Roads.

The dinosaur trail is part of admission to the museum.
