Bon Secours made it easy for residents to get this year’s flu shot. The health system offered drive-up flu shots at four locations across Hampton Roads this past weekend.
Nearly 140 volunteers distributed more than 1,660 free flu shots Saturday morning.
Bon Secours has been offering this service since 2008. This year, drivers were able to get a shot for free at DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News and the Health Center at Harbour View in Suffolk.
“Through this event, Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System aims to make the flu vaccine more accessible to our community to keep them healthier during the cold/flu season,” said Michael K. Kerner, CEO of Bon Secours Hampton Roads.
Health experts recommend everyone over 6-months-old gets vaccinated for the flu annually.
