For those of who love to stalk the Krispy Kreme on Battlefield Boulevard to see if the “Hot Now” sign is on, you have another doughnut shop to be excited about.
Duck Donuts is officially open in Chesapeake! They’re located at 1329 N. Battlefield Boulevard, right next to Mission BBQ.
Duck Donuts says they specialize in warm, delicious, made-to-order doughnuts. Customers can choose from a variety of topping combinations, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more adventurous creations such as maple icing with bacon.
In addition to doughnuts, the Chesapeake location also serves Duck Donuts’ signature coffee blends—Riptide Roast, Light House Blend, and Sunset Pier Decaf, tea, espresso drinks, OBX doughnut breakfast sandwich, doughnut sundaes featuring premium Breyer’s ice cream, select retail items and more.
The 1,430-square-foot retail store reflects the franchise’s new store format, which has been designed to visually enhance the customer experience, while strengthening the franchise’s iconic beach theme and family-friendly atmosphere, according to their press release.
To celebrate the grand opening, Duck Donuts has selected Children’s Health Investment Program of South Hampton Roads, a nonprofit whose mission is to build a healthy community by building a healthy child, to receive its inaugural Quack Gives Back donation. According to their press release, the store is contributing a percentage of its sales on Saturday, Feb. 17 to support the organization’s mission.
Doughnuts at this location will be made fresh to order seven days a week, Sunday through Tuesday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
This franchise store of Duck Donuts is the 16th in the state of Virginia. It’s owned by Chris and Jill Torio.
“It was our own personal experience in Nags Head, North Carolina and a signature Maple Bacon donut that enticed us to explore owning a Duck Donuts franchise,” said Chris. “Duck Donuts represents wholesomeness, family and community and we could not be more thrilled to bring the excitement of an Outer Banks tradition to Chesapeake.”
Chris also noted in an earlier press release that he was aware of Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts store nearby. “There’s nothing wrong with a little competition,” he said. “We bring a different product. We believe we can compete.”
