The American Red Cross says its Memorial Day Blood Drive was a huge success. The FOX43 drive collected 372 pints of blood. The goal was 351.
The Red Cross tells WAVY.com the need for blood is high during the summer months and it relies on media partners to help get the word out.
“We’re going to have a whole lot less folks actually that normally donate throughout the year because of vacations and things like that,” said Wally Rucker, of the American Red Cross. “The summer time is the time that we really need folks to come out and donate if they’re able to.”
The blood drive was held Sunday and Monday at several area malls.
