Rich, creamy and delicious, she crab soup is a favorite dish in these parts. Can’t get enough? Don’t worry –the East Coast She Crab Soup Classic is just around the corner

The event gets under way April 11 at noon at the 24th Street Park at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

Some two-dozen area eateries serve their recipes and compete for People’s Choice and Critics’ Choice awards.

Last year Mannino’s Italian Bistro took both coveted prizes.

Become a global gourmet at the PassPORT to Norfolk SisterCities, a international-themed tasting event on April 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside.

A dozen top area restaurants will be there to showcase cuisine inspired by the 10 sister cities, as well as food from our region too.

Look for inspired dishes from these countries: Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Japan, Philippines, and Russia.

The Norfolk Sister Cities Association, a non-profit group with established relationships with 10 global municipalities. The group works to foster understanding and cooperation by promoting people-to-people exchanges and strengthen relationships.

The return of warmer weather may be reason enough to raise a glass, but here is another: scores of Virginia wineries pouring their best along the downtown Norfolk waterfront.

Festevents’ Town Point Virginia Wine Festival takes place May 2 and 3 at Town Point Park in downtown Norfolk. Individual sampling tickets, reserve tables, chalts and boater docking packages give access to try some award-winning juice.
