The Norfolk Admirals are giving back this holiday season in a very cool way. For Friday, December 18th’s game, fans are asked to bring a new plush toy. After the Admirals score their first goal of the game, they will then get to throw that toy on the ice. The event is a partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps to benefit Toys for Tots. The game will be stopped so the toys can be collected by local Marines for donation. Fans can also donate stuffed toys at the Gwaltney Information Booth located at Gate 14.
It’s also Boy Scout Night, which means members of the Tidewater Council of Boy Scouts of America will be in the house to support the Admirals. The scouts will help Marines pick up donated stuffed toys on the ice once the Admirals score. Fans should not bring a new plush toy that contains an item that could potentially harm a player, coach or official, such as a squeezable toy with an internal speaker.
For any additional information on Toy Toss Night, 10-packs, or season tickets, call the Admirals’ Administrative Office at 757-640-1212.
Below is an example of what could take place, as the Calgary Hitman’s toy throw this season brought in over 28,000 plush toys.
