Construction crews will officially break ground on Norfolk Premium Outlets this summer.
In a news release issued this week, Simon Property Group notes that a groundbreaking ceremony will be held on June 2 at the planned location of the new mall, which is off Interstate 64 and Northampton Boulevard.
Current Mayor Paul Fraim and project officials are scheduled to attend the June groundbreaking.
The new outlet center is scheduled to open in the summer of 2017, and will feature 85 stores, according to the City of Norfolk.
The project is also expected to create 500 construction jobs as well as 800 full and part-time jobs once the center is open.
