While summer festivals are a blast, events in the fall can be just as fun with the cooler weather. Wine and craft beer festivals are popular this time of the year. Also there are still some great family-related events as well.

October 8 | Virginia Wine Festival | Chesapeake City Park
Unlimited tastings from over 20 premiere Virginia Wineries; the Chesapeake Wine Festival has a dry, sweet, bold, and petite for everyone! Enjoy outstanding live entertainment throughout the day.

October 15 & October 16 | 20th annual Bark in the Park Festival | Chesapeake City Park
The annual Bark in the Park & 5K/2K Doggy Dash is the largest fund raising event of the year. It attracts more than 5,000 attendees and has become Chesapeake’s most talked about pet event.

Newport News

October 1 & October 2 | Festival of Folklife | Newport News Park
The festival, which attracts 70,000 visitors each year, will feature over 200 exhibitors showcasing traditional crafts, heritage trade demonstrations, entertainment, children’s activities, and food.

October 20 – October 22 | Newport News Greek Festival | Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church
Enjoy Greek favorites such as moussaka and baklava, performances by the award-winning Hellenic Youth Dancers and vendors selling arts and crafts.


October 15 & October 16 | Town Point Virginia Fall Wine Festival | Town Point Park
xperience Hampton Roads’ most anticipated Wine Festival of the fall season along the Downtown Norfolk Waterfront. This year’s fall favorite will showcase more than 30 wineries with over 200 of the Commonwealth’s finest wine varieties.


October 14 – October 16 | 36th Annual Poquoson Seafood Festival | 830 Poquoson Avenue
The City of Poquoson’s annual salute to the working watermen of the Chesapeake Bay and life along the bay in a coastal City. Workboat Races on the Chesapeake Bay kick-off the festival. Plenty of fresh seafood, arts & crafts and entertainment.


October 30 | Hoffler Creek Fall Festival | Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve
Come enjoy a day of family fun at Hoffler Creek’s annual Fall Festival, a fun, family-oriented safe trick-or-treat event. Through crafts and games, learn about the creepy crawlies and spooky animals that live at Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve.


October 6 – October 9 | Suffolk Peanut Festival | Suffolk Executive Airport
Knjown for its fun family activities, Suffolk Peanut Fest offers concerts, amusement rides, contests and competitions, a demolition derby, a truck and tractor pull, motorcycle rally, fireworks and much more. Combine all of these great activities with local and national entertainment and you have a weekend full of good times!

Virginia Beach

September 30 – October 2 | Neptune Festival | 2nd – 36th Street at the Oceanfront
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people celebrate at the festivals many offerings. Daily concerts at festival stages are scattered along 32 blocks of the boardwalk and feature a variety of live music and performers. Also there’s a volleyball tournament, 8K/5K runs, regatta, art & craft show, parade and fireworks.

October 22 & October 23 | Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival | 31st Street Park
Over 50 craft beers from over 25 breweries will be available for sampling at the Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival. Tickets include unlimited sampling, a commemorative cup, and live entertainment.


November 4 – November 16 | Williamsburg Harvest Celebration | Various locations around Williamsburg. Jamestown & Yorktown
The 2016 Williamsburg Harvest Celebration takes visitors and culinary enthusiasts on an authentic gastronomic journey that started more than 400 years ago and honors the land used to shape our nation and the culinary lifestyle found in the kitchens of America.


October 15 & October 16 | York River Maritime Heritage Festival | Watermen’s Museum
