It’s a weekend for the record books! There are some truly incredible, fun, and FREE events happening around Hampton Roads this weekend.

Say “Opa!” at the Oceanfront. “Bonjour!” in Norfolk celebrating Bastille Day. “Good Day!” at the Shakespeare Festival. “Cheers!” at Beer Fest and “Yum!” When you have one of the season’s first peaches. And of course there’s the weekend roundup of free movies for everyone in your family.

Friday, July 10 – Sunday, July 12/2nd Annual Chesapeake Peach Festival/Mt. Pleasant Farm
Join us for the second annual Chesapeake Peach Festival July 10 – 11 from 10 AM – 6 PM and July 12 from Noon – 5 PM. During the festival there will be U-Pick peaches and produce. For the kids there will be pony rides, wagon rides, animals, food, music and more!


Friday July 10 – Saturday July 11/ “Barrymore” at the Little Theater of Norfolk
Each act begins with a stunning entrance onto a stage that the 60 year old legendary actor John Barrymore has rented to prepare for a comeback performance of Richard III. Barrymore jokes with the audience, spars with an offstage prompter, reminisces about better times and does delicious imitations of his siblings Lionel and Ethel. My Big Fat Greek Party is a three-day Greek-American party featuring world famous Greek cuisine, music, and festivities.  Greek dancers of all ages will be dancing the night away for your entertainment!  Learn Greek dances yourself! Authentic Greek items will be for sale, and prizes will be given away. The Governor’s School for the Arts Jazz Band will be performing in the Center every Friday from 5-7pm beginning April 24th and continuing through August 28th. FREE


6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m./TGIF Summer Concert Series: The Rhythm Express Band/Constant’s Wharf Park
Join your neighbors at Constant’s Wharf Park & Marina for the TGIF Summer Concert Series in Suffolk. Each second Saturday of the month June-August join us in the Children’s Garden as we focus our attentions on edible gardening. In conjunction with the Butterfly Festival we will focus on edible gardening for wildlife. Make critter crafts and take walking tours of our Plant Safari habitat gardens. Included with regular garden admission.

Come see the can-can dancers, listen to live music, taste great French food, and cheer for the winner of the Waiter’s Race. Perhaps you’d like to take a spot on the starting line of the “Tour de Ghent” Tricycle Race, or admire painters, jugglers, and artists as they demonstrate their skills. 10:00 a.m./Virginia Aquarium Chalk the Walk ARTSplosion/Boardwalk on the Oceanfront
The Virginia Aquarium Chalk the Walk ARTsplosion is where hundreds of artists and “wanna-be artists” gather to turn the boardwalk into an impromptu canvas of color! Artist registration takes place on the boardwalk at 17th Street, and chalk art is displayed for two blocks. At Chalk the Walk, participants draw four by four foot chalk drawings. FREE

On a remote island, scientists use genetically altered frog DNA to create cloned dinosaurs for a new wildlife park. While giving a preview tour, the power goes off in the rain and leaves a group of scientists and two kids to survive on an island with meat eating dinosaurs. $3 for members and $5 for non-members
