We bet that you can find any type of music this weekend in Hampton Roads. The Williamsburg Symphonia is playing crowd-pleasers all weekend, you can rock out on the peninsula at Oyster Point or the Hampton Block Party, hear jazz at the mall in Norfolk, get retro in Suffolk, and dance your shoes off at Buckroe Beach.

If you’re not feeling the groove, you can visit the Peninsula Fine Arts Center for free this weekend or put the phones down and have fun with your kids in Virginia Beach!

Conservative architect Willum Cubbert is paid a surprise visit by a fellow GI whom he has never met, but who saved his life on the battlefield of Vietnam. Unfortunately, his comrade turns out to be a tactless, socially-clueless oaf that outstays his welcome with a vengeance. In the spirit of The Odd Couple, comes the ferocious laugh-fest, The Nerd.

Friday July 31-Sunday, August 2/Summer of Freedom Music Concert Weekend/Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre
Enjoy all that Williamsburg, Virginia has to offer such as the Summer of Freedom concert weekend at Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre, featuring the Williamsburg Symphonia. Couples can enjoy the freedom to relax on a romantic night of music under the stars on Friday, July 31st, at 8pm. Families can enjoy fun movie-themed music from Star Wars to Frozen on Saturday, August 1st, at 7:30pm. And on Sunday, August 2nd, from 11:30am – 1pm, kids have the freedom to be curious as they learn about musical instruments and hear the musical story of Peter and the Wolf.

The purpose of the event is to empower housing unstable children and families by providing a high energy and fun reminder that a good education gives all of us the power to change out lives and that of our family for generations. We will be giving each child a backpack and grade-appropriate school supplies. Our initiative is to inspire more parents and kids to keep their minds and bodies active. Parents, put down those phones and interact with your kids on this fun-filled day of activities like soccer, home run derby’s, flag sports, relay runs, music, food, face painting, child ID fingerprinting and more! We hope our initiative will carry over into daily home life. Admission with a cause! Let’s help those in need of back to school supplies. Kids 4 and under are free. 5 years and older, $5 which will include food and all activities. We are asking adults to make a monetary donation or back to school supplies to benefit the Theressa Brown Back-to-School Supply Drive.
