Located on the Intracoastal Waterways in Chesapeake, VA, the Waterways Heritage Festival is truly a rich celebration of Chesapeake’s waterways and cultural heritage. FREE

Newport News

Saturday, October 10-Sunday, October 11/Port Warwick Art & Sculpture Festival/Loftis Ave.
Artists’ booth will line Styron Square this year, during the 2nd weekend of October, to showcase a full spectrum of original works by nationally recognized artists. FREE

Known for its fun family activities, Suffolk Peanut Fest offers concerts, amusement rides, contests and competitions,   a demolition derby, a truck and tractor pull, motorcycle rally, fireworks and much more. oysters will be served every way imaginable beginning at noon along with clam chowder and clam fritters, hushpuppies, hot dogs, appetizers and desserts. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. giving attendees the opportunity to decorate their spaces for the Best Decorated Space Contest, and purchase festival souvenirs and raffle chances for the Extravaganza of prizes to be given away at 4 p.m. Live music by local favorite Island Boy can be enjoyed from noon to 4 p.m. $40, kids are FREE

12 p.m.-4 p.m./Brews, Band, BBQ & Oysters too!/Sunset Beach Inn Cape Charles
Enjoy a fall Saturday complete with good eats, drinks and jams while also furthering a good cause! The fun-filled afternoon features BBQ from Scobby Duck’s Chuck Wagon, wine from Chatham Wineries, craft beers from Smartmouth Brewery, and music by Audio Sauce against the backdrop of the beautiful Eastern Shore just 1/2 mile north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. $40

Celebrate a return to simpler times at the Phoebus Fall Festival. The event will feature live music, food vendors, a doggie costume parade, pie eating contest, children’s activities, dance demonstrations, a selfie photo station and more. This year, all of Mellen Street will be closed for the Vendors Market (featuring over 30 local crafters).

11 a.m.-2 p.m./Hampton and the Elements/Hampton History Museum
The four elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water have each played a role in shaping Hampton’s past, present and future. Families are welcome to explore the 2nd Saturday ArtsWalk in downtown Hampton after the fire safety instruction.

12 p.m.-5 p.m./ Junior League of Hampton Roads 3rd Annual Craft Beer Fest/Peninsula Town Center
Plan to join the JLHR for the Peninsula’s hottest fall event! The third annual Craft Beer Festival is a rain or shine event, with a VIP hour from 12-1 pm at Peninsula Town Center. It will be located in the Town Square area across from Barnes and Nobles. To sample the craft beers you will need to purchase a ticket online beginning July 1st at www.jlhr.org, or at the door. $5 non-drinking tickets available at the door. Anyone can bring a new (tags on) bath towel, and receive $5 off your ticket purchase at the door only. This year’s festival will offer live music, food and merchant vendors, fun raffles and contests, and of course – beer samples from 15 different breweries, and more than 30 different beers! The festival will offer something for everyone!

This fun, outdoor public event in the urban heart of Town Center is designed to celebrate National Chess Day. Features include a multi-section tournament (with sections for both experienced and beginning players), free chess lessons, and a simultaneous exhibition by Virginia State champions FIDE Master James Schuyler and National Master Dan Miller. The Noblemen Oktoberfest is the BIGGEST and BEST Oktoberfest celebration in Hampton Roads! It is the only craft beer event that pits Hampton Roads-based breweries against each other to see who has the best brews! And YOU get to help decide! What is the best part? ALL of the proceeds will go to charity! Seventy Five percent of the proceeds will go directly to St. Mary’s Home in Norfolk. The other twenty five percent will go to the charities of the winning brewers. Green Flash Brewing Company’s annual fundraiser event to help raise money for breast cancer research. Right next to the site of the new brewery complex the will feature an exceptional line-up of over 20 Green Flash beers, including the Treasure Chest 2015, a Mosaic hopped IPA brewed with grapefruit, prickly pear juice, and hibiscus flowers.
