New NASA Langley Building Will Honor Katherine Johnson

The NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton is honoring a pioneer in air & space research. On September 22, NASA Langley will name a new building after Katherine Johnson.

The building with be formally known as the “Katherine G. Johnson Computational Research Facility.”

Johnson was among a group of women that helped segregate NASA. Their journey was the inspiration behind the book and Oscar-nominated film, “Hidden Figures.”

The Hampton resident recently turned 99 and is a recipient of the National Medal of Freedom.
