Member of Globetrotters making Hampton Roads appearances

A member of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters will be making appearances around Hampton Roads Tuesday, February 23. Handles Franklin will be visiting various businesses and organizations throughout the area.

The appearances are in anticipation to the Globetrotters events at the Ted Constant Center February 26 & 28. The public is invited to all events listed unless mentioned otherwise.

Event: The Virginia Living Museum presents The “Globe-Otters”

Details: Handles Franklin of the Harlem Globetrotters will be visiting the Virginia Living Museum to show off some of the skills and tricks that can be seen at this weekend’s shows. Franklin will also be curating two of the newest additions to the museums animal exhibit, Moe and Molly the otters as they show off some of their own skills.

Event: Franklin Demonstrates ABC’s of Bullying Prevention for Children of James Monroe Elementary

Details: The Harlem Globetrotter’s anti-bullying program “ABCs of Bullying Prevention” focuses on Action, Bravery, and Compassion, comprising the ABCs. It targets 6-12 year-old kids and involves Globetrotter players discussing the three key words in the ABCs and tools that kids can use on a daily basis to reduce bullying. The Globetrotters equate what it means to be part of a team to how kids can offer support to one another to help stop bullying. The important message of bullying and violence prevention is conveyed with participation from the kids – and the team’s signature ball handling skills and humor – for a well-balanced program that informs and entertains.

Event: Handles challenges Ynot Italian pizza pros to a “spin-off” at Ghent Location

Details: Harlem Globetrotter fans can stop by Ynot Italian – Ghent location for a photo opportunity with Handles of the Harlem Globetrotters. Handles will learn the pizza making trade and create his own specialty Harlem Globetrotters pizza. While there fans can register to win tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters on February 26 & 28 at the Constant Center with a pre-game pizza party provided by Ynot Italian.
