Sunday, May 29th
3 p.m./Hampton Roads Metro Band Presents: A Memorial Day Picnic Concert/Knights of Columbus Hall
The Hampton Roads Metro Band will have a performance at The Knights of Columbus Hall located at 211 W. Government Ave. in the Ocean View neighborhood of Norfolk on Sunday, May 29th, at 3:00 PM. This concert is free and open to the public. HRMB is an all-volunteer, non-profit symphonic concert band that is comprised of musicians from 16 to 86 years old. Founded in 1930 as the Norfolk Fire Division Band, HRMB is the oldest continuously performing community concert band in Tidewater. The band’s mission is to provide the public with performances of enjoyable music including marches, classical music, patriotic pieces, big band charts, contemporary tunes, and music from stage and screen. The quality and variety of the music makes a performance by the Hampton Roads Metro Band exciting and entertaining.
7 p.m./Memorial Day Concert/Ocean View Beach Park
The Virginia Symphony Orchestra at beautiful Ocean View Park in a patriotic concert on Sunday evening, May 29. Free to the public. A program of light classics and popular tunes, conducted by JoAnn Falletta, who is celebrating her 25th year as Music Director of the VSO. Special guest vocalist Aundi Marie Moore will join the full orchestra in a rousing tribute to our men and women in uniform and with a rousing kickoff to Memorial Day weekend and the start of summer!
Monday, May 30th
11 a.m./Memorial Day Ceremony/Chesapeake Veterans’ Memorial
The Mayor’s Commission on Veterans Affairs proudly presents a Memorial Day Ceremony honoring all who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.
10 a.m./Memorial Day Ceremony/Hampton National Cemetery
The Hampton National Cemetery is located adjacent to Hampton University – at the intersection of Cemetery Road and Marshall Avenue. The observance is open to the public and will take place rain or shine.
11 a.m./Memorial Day Ceremony/Virginia War Museum
Sponsored by American Legion, Braxton-Perkins Post #25, this annual ceremony is held at 11 a.m. at the Victory Arch, 25th Street & West Avenue in downtown Newport News. After the ceremony, the public is invited learn about America’s rich military heritage at the Virginia War Museum. Visit the museum on Memorial Day and receive $1 off the posted admission prices.
5 p.m., concert starts at 7:30 p.m./USAF Heritage of America Concert Band Memorial Day Concert/City Center at Oyster Point
Come out and pay tribute to those who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice. This commemorative evening performance is outdoors, so blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged.

10 a.m./132nd Annual Memorial Day Parade/High Street
A Portsmouth tradition since 1884. Annually, the Memorial Day Parade salutes the service and sacrifices of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and celebrates Portsmouth’s proud military heritage. This year’s parade will include floats, marching band units, armed forces units, lots of excitement and much more.
10 a.m./Memorial Day Ceremony/Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery
Sponsored by the American Legion Nansemond Post 88. Gerald Rhoads will be the guest speaker.
12 p.m./Memorial Day Ceremony/Virginia Beach Convention Center
This event is free and open to the public. Military personnel, their families and all citizens are invited to participate. Citizens who would like to place an American flag (provided) around the base of the memorial are encouraged to arrive before the ceremony. The flags will remain in place for one week.

10 a.m./Memorial Day Ceremony/Grace Episcopal Church
A ceremony honoring veterans from all of America’s wars
8:30 a.m.-5 p.m./Military Appreciation/Hampton Roads Harley Davidson
Hampton Roads Harley-Davidson® is hosting an event to honor the military on Saturday, May 28 for military both past and present. The community is encouraged to join in the festivities and help Hampton Roads Harley-Davidson celebrate local servicemen and women.
The celebration is from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will include a car and bike show, a bikini bike wash, and a cookout. The cookout starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. All active military and veterans in attendance will eat free and receive a free bike flag with any purchase.
12 p.m./Memorial Day Ceremony/York Hall
York County Historical Committee Memorial Day Ceremony, 12 pm. Posting of colors, historical re-enactors, guest speaker, and the placing of flowers
All Weekend/Memorial Weekend Salute/Kings Dominion
We are celebrating Memorial Day all weekend long with extended fireworks shows, live entertainment, special offers and more. Plus – all active and retired military personnel get FREE admission to the park!
