We know it as the official “end of summer” here in Hampton Roads, but it’s also a busy travel weekend where our beaches and attractions are flooded one last time with tourists.
That’s right, Labor Day weekend is coming up. And it might make our interstates a little busier than usual.
TripAdvisor recently released the results of its annual Labor Day travel survey.
They found that 41% plan to travel for Labor Day weekend this year, up by 11% from last year. Of those, 68% plan to drive to their destinations and 27% plan to fly.
That’s also a big weekend in Hampton Roads with the American Music Festival and the Rock and Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon taking place at the Oceanfront.
