Hundreds of sailors returned home Sunday when the USS Stout returned to Naval Station Norfolk.
The Stout deployed back in May to the Middle East. Crew took part in joint exercises including a search and rescue operation with the Republic of Cyprus, a multinational exercise with the Hungarian, Greek, Israeli, Italian and French navies; a joint sonar exercise with the Moroccan navy; and multiple exercises with the Iraqi navy.
While operating in the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf, the ship made several port visits to the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Cyprus, Spain, Portugal and Greece.
During many of the visits, the crew had the opportunity to interact with the local nationals through community relations projects.
