Navy Night at Harbor Park this Saturday

The Norfolk Tides are celebrating Navy Night on Saturday, August 8th with treats for both Sailors and Civilians! Tides Fans will get to check out technology and safety demonstrations before the game and enjoy fireworks afterwards.

Gates will open at 6 p.m., with the game starting at 7:05 p.m. A special pre-game ceremony will honor the brave men and women – past and present – who have served in the U.S. Navy.

Here are some of the special events going on:

In the parking lot from 5 to 7 p.m.:

.               Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 2 – EOD gear

.               Navy Expeditionary Combat Command – construction gear

.               Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire & Emergency Services – fire safety and preparedness

On the concourse to the third inning:

.               Hampton Roads Naval Museum

.               Fleet and Family Support Center Norfolk

.               Navy Gold Star

.               Morale, Welfare and Recreation

.               Naval Recruiting Command – a career in the Navy

.               Naval Station Norfolk Boatswain Mate knot board and knot tying demo

.               Drug Education for Youth (DEFY)

.               The Flagship Newspaper

.               U.S. Navy Stewards of the Sea and mascot “Stewie”

On-field participation:

.               Navy Region Mid-Atlantic dog handlers will present a working dog demo

.               Future Sailors will recite the Oath of Enlistment

.               Area Navy leadership will be recognized

.               Service members and Regional Ombudsman will throw out first pitches

.               National Anthem presented by Naval School of Music Sailor

.               Colors presented by Naval Consolidated Brig, Chesapeake
