We have respect and love for our brave men and women serving in America’s Armed Forces. They’re our friends and neighbors here in Hampton Roads, but what about their husbands and wives, holding down the fort at home?
It’s those unsung heroes, often called the “hardest working member of the military,” who are honored during the annual Heroes at Home Military Spouse Awards. Visit heroesathomeva.com for details and to submit a nomination. Any spouse of active duty U.S. military service members, Guard or Reserves living in the Hampton Roads area may be nominated. Nominations will be accepted from any individual or group, civilian and active duty personnel, and you may nominate more than one Hero.
The nomination deadline is March 27th at midnight.
The Military Spouse Awards give our community, both military and civilian members, a chance to thank military spouses for their efforts in volunteering, community involvement, and moral support. It honors spouses from all branches of the Armed Services: the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy and Marine Corps.
A judging panel consisting of members of the Hampton Roads business and military community will review the nominations and select 10 finalists, one of whom will be named the 2016 Heroes at Home Military Spouse of the Year. All nominees will be honored at the Heroes at Home Spouse Appreciation and Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 5th.
The finalists and the Heroes at Home Military Spouse of the Year will be announced at this luncheon.
So take some time today to recognize the efforts of members of military families who stay at home. Visit heroesathomeva.com and nominate a Hero at Home.
