Norfolk Mermaid Sees New Life Following Vandalism

A Norfolk mermaid that was vandalized has been given new life. The mermaid, Lady Anne, used to sit along the water on Mayflower Road until her arm was torn off. $1500 was raised to repair the mermaid and the original artist did the work.

Lady Anne returned to the Colonial Place neighborhood Saturday, but now sits in the Delaware roundabout. Because of this week’s rain, her permanent post could not be installed, so what you see in the image is temporary.

She will eventually sit higher. The circle is one way and fortunately she is pointing in the correct direction.
