Cape Hatteras National Seashore staff is recognizing World Oceans Month by initiating cleanup efforts throughout Cape Hatteras.
In order to preserve and beautify the beach areas, the staff is inviting the public to do their part by participating in trash and man-made debris removal from three locations along the seashore each Wednesday in June from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Here are the following locations to meet:
June 10, 2015 – Coquina Beach Bathhouse, Bodie Island.
June 17, 2015 – Old Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Site parking lot, Hatteras Island.
June 24, 2015 – Lifeguarded beach parking lot, Ocracoke Island.
The staff suggests you bring leather gloves, water, snacks, sunscreen and bug spray. Wear closed-toed shoes and hats for protection. Staff will provide trash bags. People 18 and under must have a parent or legal guardian accompanying them.
