The grand opening of Norfolk’s newest social and meeting hangout, THE MAIN, will be celebrated in style — with two weekends of special events.
It all begins March 24-26 with a private fundraising sneak peek. There are tickets and room packages available for the “Celebration for the Arts” event to benefit the local arts community. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe will attend THE MAIN Event as its VIPs.
Guests will be treated to live performances, interactive art installations, a Big Band Bash Friday night and more. The highlight of this weekend is a live concert featuring the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Tony Award-winning Broadway star Kelli O’Hara and director and conductor Rob Fisher.
The following weekend, the public is invited to a big grand opening weekend set for Norfolk’s new downtown luxury hotel and conference center at the intersection of Granby and Main.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is Friday, March 31 at noon, followed by open house tours from 2-5 p.m. Tour guides will be dressed in WWII garb to reflect the height of the Granby & Main Street era.
Enjoy an after work party Friday night with three stages and six performances, including Major and the Monbacks, The Tams and Buckshot.
Saturday night, guests will be mesmerized by a spectacular Cirque production of Masquerade. THE MAIN Ballroom will transform into The Mad Hatter’s Masquerade Ball beginning at 9 p.m. with imaginative décor and world-class entertainment from a local DJ followed by the weekend headliner Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
