For the first time in school history, Portsmouth’s Norcom is a 3-time Virginia boy’s high school basketball champion.
Thanks to 30 points from senior guard Travis Fields, the Greyhounds topped Hopewell 67-65 in overtime to take the 3A crown in Richmond.
The Greyhounds’ “Big Three” accounted for 55 of the team’s total 67 points. Fields was the catalyst, but as usual, he was accompanied by K.J. Davis and Travis Ingram, who scored 16 and nine points, respectively.
Norcom joins the girls from Princess Anne High School that brought basketball state titles to Hampton Roads this season.
