Small Business Space Opens in Downtown Suffolk

Small business owners will soon be able to rent fully furnished office spaces in downtown Suffolk.

Suffolk Executive Offices (SEO), a coworking space that provides entrepreneurs with fully-furnished rental offices, is hosting its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m.

Suffolk’s Vice Mayor Leroy Bennett will attend the ceremony.

Business owners who can’t make the daytime festivities can attend an open house on June 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Located at 425 West Washington Street, Suite 200, SEO is also collaborating with Suffolk’s Economic Development Department to host a week-long Small Business Education Series between June 26 and June 30.

Entrepreneurs can learn about business planning, using social media to monitor consumer tastes, business start-up guides, marketing, financing options and government contracting.

Each session will begin at noon or 12:15 p.m. and last 30 minutes to an hour. Discussions will be led by a different expert each day, including local business owners, representatives from consulting companies, small business owners, and community relationship managers.

Guests must register and can attend as many sessions as they choose.

SEO is Suffolk’s first flexible co-working space, and gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to work independently or collaboratively with other business owners.

Rental spaces include executive suites with Internet access, 24-hour office access, a local telephone number and voicemail and other amenities.

SEO also allows business owners to have virtual offices, which are perfect for those who want to enhance their professional image but don’t need permanent office spaces. Perks include a physical business address, mail forwarding, and saving money by avoiding office setup expenses.

Professionals who want to rent by the hour, a half-day, a full day or even by the week can take advantage of their day office option, or check out their coworking spaces and conference rooms.

According to the company’s website, coworking is an up-and-coming style of work that provides business owners with a shared work environment, similar to a coffee house, but eliminates distractions that entrepreneurs are often faced with like TV, the kitchen, the couch and other daily distractions.

Coworking spaces are typically frequented by people who work for different companies, and are a favorite among work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, frequent travelers, freelancers and small business owners.

Suffolk Executive Offices wants to provide its customers with business services and necessities so they can focus on managing and improving their own businesses.
