Veterans Day Freebies

There are dozens of restaurants and companies saying thank you to our military veterans by offering them Veterans Day discounts or a free meal. Here’s a list of participating businesses in the Hampton Roads area and their deals. If you know of any others, please note them in the comment section at the bottom of the page.



Applebee’s: Free entrée from a fixed menu on Veterans Day. Available from open to close on November 11, 2015. Dine in only.

California Pizza Kitchen: Free entrée from a special menu of pizza, pasta and salad.

Captain George’s Seafood: Free buffet for Active Duty and Veterans.

Chili’s: Free entrée from a set menu. Available November 11, 2015. Dine in only.

Cracker Barrel: Free Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola cake for veterans.

Denny’s: Free “build your own Grand Slam” breakfast from 5 a.m. until noon.

Friendly’s: Free “Big-Two-Do” breakfast or burger and fries lunch (limit one meal per person).

Fuddruckers Newport News: Free Veterans Burger With Fries on Veterans Day.

Golden Corral: Free buffet dinner and beverage from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at all locations.

Hooters: All Vets and Active Military choose from free menu items.

IHOP: Free pancakes with strawberries, blueberry compote and whipped topping from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts: All Veterans and Active duty military will receive a free entree from the Stars & Stripes Menu with a military id. call ahead for participating locations.

Little Caesars: Free $5 pizza-and-beverage lunch combo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Max & Erma’s: November 11, Veterans Eat the Free Best Cheeseburger in America with a choice of soup or salad.

Moe’s Southwest Grill Hampton Roads: Moe’s is proud to offer a 20% military discount every Saturday with id. November 11th, Moe’s will offer their 20% military discount in honor of Veterans Day.

Olive Garden: Free meal from a special menu; family members eating with them get 10 percent off their meals.

Outback Steakhouse Free bloomin onion and beverage on Veterans Day November 11.

Papa Johns Hampton Roads: 35% for military members with id for Veterans Week Nov. 5 – Nov. 11 with the code: HRMIL35 for online.

Red Lobster: Free appetizer or dessert (no purchase necessary) from a special menu, from Monday through Thursday.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers: Free Red’s Tavern Double burger with fries.

Shoney’s: Free All-American burger to vets and active servicemembers. The chain also regularly offers 15 percent off for all military, fire, police or EMT workers. Dine-in only.

Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill: Free meal for veterans from a select menu.

Starbucks: Free tall (12-ounce) coffee, also open to military spouses.

T.G.I. Friday’s: Free lunch from a special menu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Zoe’s Kitchen: Veterans Day free entree for all military with ID and 10% off for family and friends that come in with them


Bed and Breakfasts: Around 500 bed and breakfasts and inns participating in program will offer free rooms for vets staying Nov. 10 or 11.

Bed Bath & Beyond:20 percent off an entire purchase for vets, active military, DOD, reserves, guard, retirees, and military spouses in stores only. 

Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia: Free admission Nov. 6 through Veterans Day to military families, their dependents and veterans.

Dollar General –Active duty service members, veterans and their family get an 11% discount on qualifying purchases on November 11.

Great Clips hair salon: free haircuts. Vets can either get a free cut or a voucher for a free cut to use any time before the end of the year. Other customers who purchase a service on Veterans Day will get a free haircut voucher to give to a vet (must be redeemed in the same time frame, and there’s a limit of one per customer.)

iFLY Virginia Beach: All Veterans will receive 40% off all First Time Flyer Packages for the entire month of November when you fly Mondays-Fridays. Book online using promo code Veterans Day.

Mariners’ Museum & Park: Military will receive $5 admission to the Museum on Veterans Day. Saturday, November 14 – $5 tickets to the Museum will be offered to military (active, retired, veterans) first responders, and their immediate family.

Meineke Car Care Centers: Free oil changes. (Basic oil change only; advance booking at is recommended.)

Nauticus in Norfolk: All veterans are admitted for free on Veterans Day.

Norfolk SPCA: Free adoptions on Veterans Day for active duty and retired military members.


Rack Room Shoes Military personnel and their dependents get a 10% discount off entire purchase on Veteran’s Day, November 11.

Rebounderz Indoor Trampoline Newport News: Veterans jump free with a military id on Veterans Day. Family members of Veterans Jump for $8 on Veterans Day.

Virginia Air & Space Center: Free admission for Veterans with proof of service on Veterans Day. VASC will also be showing D-Day on Veterans Day for additional cost.

Virginia Living Museum: The Virginia Living Museum salutes the service of our military by offering admission and membership discounts year-round to active duty military personnel and their families.

Virginia Peninsula Photography: Military members and Veterans receive $500 off our military wedding photo package. Also, extended to any Veterans who have a child getting married. Veteran Owned Businesses can take advantage of a 25% Military Discount towards Business View Tour of your office. Offer valid until Dec. 31.

Virginia Zoo: Military Appreciation Day along with The USO of HRCV November 15 free Admission to The Virginia Zoo, includes active duty, guard, reserve, veterans, and dependents.

Note: Not all franchise locations participate in their national chain’s Veterans Day programs. Check with your nearest establishment first to make sure they are participating.
