This Weekend: Virginia Arts Festival Opening Celebration

The Virginia Arts Festival is simply spectacular this year. From truly unique works of art to international musical extravaganzas, you’ll find something that will delight and entertain you.

It all kicks off tonight, Friday April 8th on MacArthur green. The free outdoor party starts at 5 p.m. and includes performances by Semi-Toned, Exeter University’s award-winning, all-male a cappella group.

The big news, however, is the debut of the Virginia Arts Festival Bells. This unique 23-bell carillon will serve as a roving ambassador for the Festival’s 20th celebration season and future seasons. There will be beer, wine, and food available for purchase as well.

The evening schedule:

5:00 p.m. – Gates open

5:30 p.m. – Opening remarks by Mayor Paul Fraim and Festival officials, Rob Cross, Tommy Rueger and Scott Jackson

6:00 p.m. – Performances on Virginia Arts Festival Bells

6:15 p.m. – Semi-Toned

7:00 p.m. – Opportunity for the public to play the Virginia Arts Festival Bells

7:15 p.m. – Fuzz Band

9:00 p.m. – Festival Celebration opening night ends

Make your destination for Virginia Arts Festival fun! We’ll take you behind the scenes and to as many events as we can.
