Halloween weekend is here! If you are taking the kids out trick-or-treating, check out some of your city’s times, guidelines and laws. We also have some safety tips for you to have a safe Halloween.

Based on the Jack-the-Ripper Walks in London, participants in the 35th annual Olde Towne Ghost Walk will be treated to some of the most haunting stories of Portsmouth’s past.

6 p.m. | A Nightmare Before Christmas Party for Teens | Morgan Memorial Library
The night’s events include a costume contest, pumpkin decorating, enough candy to make you sick, and of course the movie, A Nightmare Before Christmas.

There will be treats for the kids, door prizes, raffles, a costume contest, and music. Tickets include three games of bowling plus shoe rental.
Tickets are $10 donation in advance and $15 at the door. Children under the age of 12 are FREE.

6 p.m. | Dark Side of the Moon Block Party | Downtown Hampton
Grab your broom and fly into downtown Hampton and enjoy all hallows eve on the block – we have conjured up a spell for a fantastically frightening evening. We will have witches brews to lift your spirits. Gremlins and Goblins of all ages are invited. Stand out to win in the dog costume contest which will start at 6:30 p.m. and human contest begins at 8:30 p.m.

Kids of all ages will love to touch, climb on, and honk horns of their favorite types of trucks and vehicles at the Portsmouth Service League’s Touch a Truck Event. The first hour of the event will be noise free to accommodate the needs of all children. This annual event will feature neighborhood police and fire vehicle’s and the hometown heroes who drive them.

On this evening of chills and thrills here will be candy, live entertainment, and fun for the entire family. Come dressed up and be prepared for the whole family to have hauntingly good time.

The show will feature crafters and direct sale vendors, plus a bake sale, Brunswick stew sale, and door prizes raffle. This is a fundraiser for the Nansemond River Pilot Club, a community service organization.
