Speak Your Truth at the Truth Booth at Chrysler

The Chrysler Museum of Art’s latest exhibit wants you to come out and speak your truth. The critically acclaimed installation, In Search of the Truth, will make an appearance on the front lawn June 24 and 25; the only stop in Virginia during a U.S. tour. The exhibition features the Truth Booth, which is a 14-foot-tall inflatable speech bubble.

People are asked to go inside, solo or in a group, where a touch screen will ask them “The truth is….”. Then a video will record the reaction for up to two minutes.

The Truth Booth debuted in 2011 and has made stops all over the world, including Afghanistan, South Africa and Ireland. The exhibit was created and operated by Cause Collective, a team of artists, designers and ethnographers creating innovative art in public spaces.

The goals of the team with the project include:

  • Amplify the voices of the public during the presidential campaign period.
  • Provide an interactive platform for the nation to share its hopes, dreams, and truths
in this election season both physically and digitally.
  • Capture as many definitions, confessions and thoughts on “the truth” as possible.
  • Provide an interactive experience with art, media and free speech.

The booth will inflate Friday morning and Chrysler will extend hours to 8:30 p.m., which will also be accompanied by events for other exhibits that are currently taking place.

The main day for the booth will be on Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., which will be followed by a closing party at Work|Release beginning at 9 p.m.

Participation in the Truth Booth is free and open to the public.
