If you’re anything like me, you love a GOOD movie on rainy day — or ANY day for that matter! And by GOOD movie, I mean an excellent film-making endeavor that entertains, inspires, and makes you think. That’s my kind of flick, and by and large, that kind of film gets nominated for some type of Academy Award.
The eight Best Picture nominees for this year’s Academy Awards will be shown back-to-back in Hampton Roads for one price over the next two Saturdays. It’s thanks to AMC’s Best Picture Showcase; something I’ve been going to for years!
Folks on both sides of the water can see all eight — four this Saturday, February 14th and four next Saturday, February 21st– at these theaters:
Do you know which films are nominated? Here’s the rundown!
The first Saturday features The Grand Budapest Hotel at 10 a.m., Whiplash at 12 p.m., Birdman at 2:05 p.m., and Selma at 4:55 p.m.
The second Saturday will showcase Boyhood at 10 a.m., The Theory of Everything at 1:05 p.m., The Imitation Game at 3:30 p.m., and American Sniper at 6:25 p.m.
Tickets for BOTH Saturdays are on sale now at the box offices. I’ve already got mine! For $65 we get to see the eight best films of the year! That’s cheaper than one at a time! Plus — if you are a STUBS member (AMC’s loyalty program), you get an additional $5.00 on your Stubs card each of the Saturdays towards concessions! It’s a bargain, I tell ya!
I’ve only seen three of the eight, and I reviewed those on The Hampton Roads Show. If you’d like to know what I thought of The Grand Budapest Hotel CLICK HERE; Selma CLICK HERE; or American Sniper CLICK HERE. I will see all three again in the Showcase, because I love seeing the best films along side each other for comparison.
I hope you will join me and other film junkies ready to see some GOOD movies. I will be at AMC Lynnhaven 18! Say hello if you make it out! If you’re watching anywhere else… tweet along with us, using the hashtag #amcbps.
