The Monday Beat – March 2, 2015

It’s the start of another week, the snow is melting, your back at the grind and you need some new music in your life.  Well, I have you covered.  A couple of new musical outfits are hitting the local scene with a couple of singles and EPs on the horizon that will surely be on consistent repeat.

The Reset – a five piece rock ‘n’ roll band – just released their new single, Sway, online ahead of the release of their debut EP which will be available April 3rd.  The Reset features vocalist Thomas McCuen of Pilot! fame, guitarist Thomas Glantz, who was recently in Your Favorite Coastline and An Ocean Between, guitarist Allen Bays, David Wigginton on bass and Mike Wheatley on drums. You can see them perform live on April 3rd at Shaka’s Live in Virginia Beach as part of the Pilot! reunion show with Audiostrobelight.  You can download ‘Sway’ here.

The Fiction is a great new band with a very uptempo ’80s sounds that features vocalist Elisa Meri and instrumentalist Rob Devinney.  They are currently finishing up their EP and will hit the road this summer.  Their new single, Say Goodbye To You, has been garnering airplay on 96x and will soon be hitting the radio airwaves across the country.  Stay tuned to hrScene.com as they will be one of our featured artist profiles.

The always awesome Broken Mouth Annie is set to release their followup to their excellent debut album, The Frustration King, in the next month and they have been playing their new tunes to the masses at their live shows.  The next time you can see them perform is this Friday along with Outta The Furnace at The Iguana off Hampton Blvd in Norfolk.  The show is 18+.  Broken Mouth Annie is a plethora of music talent and is one of the best live bands around.  Definitely check them out when you get a chance.

FM99 has announce the lineup for their annual Lunatic Luau, which will feature Godsmack, Slayer, Halestorm, Testament and many more.  The Luau takes place Friday, May 1st at Farm Bureau Live and your band can have the chance of opening the festival.  Submissions are now open for the Lunatic Luau’s Battle Of The Bands, where bands will compete in a series of live battles at Big Woody’s in Chesapeake.  All the information on the battle and how to submit your band is available here but you’ll have until March 15 to sign up.
