Norfolk Play Day
September 16 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pmFREE
Norfolk believes that everyone deserves a little playtime and on Saturday, September 16, more than 1,300 guests will get out and play at the 2017 Play Day. The annual event, hosted by Norfolk’s Department of Recreation, Parks & Open Space (RPOS), runs 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Tarrallton Park (2100 Tarrallton Drive) and offers a myriad of opportunities for residents to have fun.
Activities include carnival games, bounce houses, music, a 24-foot slide, and pony rides. New to this year’s list is a rock wall, selfie station, and petting zoo. Complimentary popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones are provided to each attendee, and lunch items are available to purchase.
Also new to this year’s event is a celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15), through a partnership with the Norfolk Police Department. Part of that celebration includes a soccer tournament, Hispanic vendors, and music provided by both a live band and a DJ, for attendees to dance the day away! Through partnerships and outreach opportunities such as this, the police department is hoping to bridge gaps within the community, strengthening relationships between officers and residents.
