Noon Year’s Eve/Virginia Leaving Museum
The whole family can enjoy this seventh-annual daytime New Year’s celebration at the Virginia Living Museum. This year’s event is space-themed as the museum turns back the clock to the 1960s Race for Space to launch a year-long 50th anniversary celebration. Dress as an astronaut or your favorite space alien.

Noon Year’s Eve/Portsmouth Arts and Cultural Center
There is no better place for families to ring in the New Year than the Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center. Countdown to noon with a glittery ball drop, and a toast to the New Year. Face painting, magic, and balloon-making will be held in the Art Annex prior to the countdown, along with a photo booth and refreshments. After the “Noon Year” has arrived, kids can create their own fireworks by walking on the “carpet of bubbles’ that pop underfoot.

Old Towne Scottish Walk/Olde Towne
Each New Year’s Eve, people from all around eastern Virginia, come to Olde Towne Portsmouth, Virginia for the annual Scottish Walk. Modeled after Scotland’s Hogmanay Festival, a day when townspeople honor their community and merchants and offer blessings for prosperity in the coming year. The procession includes locals, family, friends and visitors led by pipe-and-drum bands. The participants gather at the corner of Queen and Washington streets and march through the historic streets of Olde Towne ending at the High Street Landing where all join hands and sing ‘Auld Lang Syne’. Gather at Queen and Washington Street’s.  Assemble at 4 p.m. and step off at 4:30. The Scottish Walk is free to all–rain or shine.

Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach will once again celebrate the arrival of the New Year with a festive “Last Night on the Town” New Year’s Eve event, hosted by the Central Business District Association.The 3rd annual Last Night on the Town begins with a family-friendly celebration at Pembroke Mall, then continues right through the night with entertainment at Town Center, culminating with a live performance by a national recording artist. This year’s headline band: Cherry Poppin’ Daddies!
