It’s All A’s for Lady Antebellum at Farm Bureau Live

Farm Bureau Live in Virginia Beach was packed Sunday night as Lady Antebellum brought their Wheels Up tour to town.  One of the hottest tours of summer, Lady A has been blowing off the roofs of every venue they’ve hit and last night was no exception.  The show started off with a huge bang when country music’s top new artist, Sam Hunt, kicked the show off.  Sam has been on a roll since coming on the scene last year with his #1 single, Leave The Night On.  I’ve never seen a venue fill-up for an opening act like I did last night for Sam.  He made good use of his 30 minute set filled with tracks from his debut album, Montevallo, including his second #1 hit, Take Your Time, and this summer’s hit, House Party.  My ears are still ringing from the screams directed his way.  Sam is opening the tour on a few more dates but I bet he’ll have his own headlining tour next summer.

23 year-old Hunter Hayes is the tour’s featured support act and the 2012 CMA New Artist of The Year dazzled the crowd with his guitar work and his own slew of hits including Somebody’s Heartbreak and Storm Warning.  Hunter also performed a brand-new single that was released this past Friday titled Saint Or A Sinner, which the crowd seemed to embrace but not as muLADYA2ch as they enjoyed his cover of Walk The Moon’s Shut Up & Dance – quite entertaining.

It was 9:00pm on the dot when Lady A took the stage and opened with Long Stretch Of Love off of their latest release, 747.  Their stay-in-your-head-for-days lyrics and fantastic harmonies are what makes this band shine and it showed very well last night as they ran through their anthology of hits from Hey Bartender to Run To You.   They had a catwalk that extended out to the crowd and a small stage out towards the lawn in which the trio headed out to for a trifecta of tunes including a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide.  The group brought out Hunter Hayes to show off his six string shooter skilled for a couple of songs and Sam Hunt joined in to add a little rock with a cover of Aerosmith’s Walk This Way.

Lady Antebellum owned Farm Bureau Live last night and it seems like yesterday when they made their first appearance here in 2009 opening up for Kenny Chesney and last night’s performance solidified their place as lifetime headliners.
