City Chesapeake offices, libraries, community centers, DMV Select office and the Chesapeake Circuit Court Clerk’s office will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, to Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2. All Chesapeake Courts and the General District and Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court’s Clerk’s Offices will close Friday, Dec. 23, to Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2.
There will be no change to recycling and trash collections days and routes.
City offices, city schools and most city programs will be closed for Christmas and New Year’s Day, and trash selection will be different for some residents. There will be no regular recycling, refuse, bulk trash or yard waste collection on Friday, Dec. 23 or Monday, Dec. 26 because of Christmas; or on Monday, Jan. 2, because of New Year’s Day.
Trash normally collected on Friday, Dec. 23 will be collected Wednesday, Dec. 21. Trash normally collected Monday, Dec. 26 will be collected Wednesday, Dec. 28. And trash normally collected on Monday, Jan. 2 will be collected Wednesday, Jan. 4. the city landfill will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2, 2017. The yard waste site will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2016.
All Newport News City offices will be closed on Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26th for the Christmas holiday. This includes City Hall, City offices at City Center at Oyster Point, Newport News Waterworks’ customer service offices, the Public Works Operations Center, and both locations of the Treasurer’s and Commissioner of the Revenue’s offices.
Newport News Public Libraries will also be closed Friday, December 23rd through Monday, December 26th for the Christmas holiday and will resume normal operating hours beginning Tuesday, December 27th.
Garbage, recycling and bulk waste collections – There will be no garbage, recycling and bulk waste collection on Monday, December 26, 2016. Collections will be made Tuesday through Friday, December 27th through 30th.
Garbage and Recycling Collection will take place as scheduled Friday, Dec. 23. Bulk waste requests for Dec. 23 and Dec.27 must be made before 3 pm on Thursday, Dec. 22.
The City of Norfolk’s government offices, including City Hall, recreation facilities, and Norfolk Public Libraries will close Friday, December 23, 2016 and Monday, December 26 in observance of the holiday.
Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court will close at 12:00 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2016 and will reopen at normal business hours on Tuesday, December 27.
Garbage and recycling collection will operate as normal on Friday, December 23. Requests for bulk waste collection on Friday, December 23 and Tuesday, December 27 must be made before 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 by calling the Norfolk Cares Call Center at 757-664-6510.
Municipal offices will be closed on Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26th, for the Christmas Holiday; and, on Monday, January 2nd, the day after New Year’s Day.

Suffolk City offices will be closed Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26 and will reopen for normal operations on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.
There will be no change to the trash or TFC Recycling collection schedule for the week of December 19th through December 23rd or the week of December 26th through December 30th.
From December 27 through January 6, 2017, the Suffolk Department of Public Works Refuse Division will collect all Christmas trees and boxes as a special collection. During these two weeks, Christmas trees and boxes will not be counted towards the 12 free special collections. Any Christmas trees put out for collection after January 6, 2017 will be picked up but will count as a special collection.
The Morgan Memorial Library, North Suffolk Library, and Chuckatuck Branch Library will be closed Friday, December 23 through Monday, December 26. Branches will reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27.
No trash or recycling collection on Monday, Dec. 26 or Jan. 2, 2017. VB Landfill and Resource Recovery Center will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Dec. 24, but will be closed on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 2.

Waller Mill Park – will be closed December 24-25 and January 1.
Quarterpath Recreation Center – will be closed December 23-26, December 31-January 2.
Leaf Collection – there will be no leaf collection December 23, 26 and January 2.
Williamsburg Regional Library (both branches) – will be closed December 23-25 and January 1-2.
WJCC Courthouse – on Monticello Avenue will be closed December 23-26 and January 1-2.
