Hampton Roads’ longest running outdoor Jazz Festival returns for two nights along the Downtown Norfolk Waterfront. On a warm summer evening, chill to the legendary sounds of top national Smooth Jazz and R & B recording artists. This popular festival features a variety of seating and ticket options including the New Journal and Guide VIP Club, reserved seating, designated tent areas, festival lawn seating, fine foods and beverages, plus a festival marketplace with crafts, retail items, and more.

Check-in will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at Sleepy Hole Park, and check-out will be at 9 a.m. the next day on July 17. The Great American Campout is great for scouting troops and other approved youth organizations. We will offer camping demonstrations, storytelling, hikes, and other fun activities. This program is for ages 6 and up, and participants must bring their own tents.

Celebrate National Ice Cream Month with the Ice Cream Festival at the Francis Land House from 1pm to 4pm. Play ice cream themed games, create ice cream art, make ice cream in a bag, learn about the history of ice cream, and try out an old-fashioned hand-crank ice cream machine. Gilly’s Creamery Ice Cream Truck will be on-site for the Ice Cream festival from 1 pm to 3 pm with historic flavors of ice cream for people to try and buy. Olaf from Frozen will be in attendance and will take pictures with the public on the half hour.
