6 a.m. | 6th Annual Chesapeake Bataan Death March Memorial Walk/Run | Dismal Swamp Trail
The mission is to honor our Bataan survivors, those who fell during the march, those who died as prisoners of war and those who returned after nearly 3 years of hellish captivity.  In order to carry out our mission the Bataan Death March event is our largest fund raiser of the year. Funds from this event are used to help Veterans in need. The walk (1 mile, 5 miles & 16 miles) portion is “FREE”. T-Shirts, food and soft drinks will be available for sale.

11 a.m. | 11th Annual Hampton Roads Rubber Duck Race | Intracoastal Waterway at Great Bridge
Thousands of rubber ducks will float down the Intracoastal Waterway, winning spectacular prizes for lucky duck participants. First place will win $10,000 and other lucky ducks will receive prize packages valued at over $1,750. This is one of Hampton Roads’ premier family events with more than 2,500 spectators cheering on their ducks and enjoying a day of fun activities, food, music, and games, all to benefit CHIP and the children of our community.

Lizz Wright is a vocalist and composer who synthesizes R&B, jazz, folk, blues, and gospel. In 2000, Wright joined the vocal quartet In the Spirit. The group was quickly hailed as the best jazz group in the city, which motivated Wright to hone her craft all the more.
