Five Best Things about Hampton Roads in the Fall

Hampton Roads in the fall is so overwhelmingly wonderful… and not because everything tastes like pumpkin spice.

Our community is so diverse from neighborhoods to residents and even weather. There are lots of things to celebrate, and tons of fun things to enjoy without leaving town.

Here are some of our favorite things about Hampton Roads in the fall. What are your favorite things?

The sunsets (and sunrises!)

I have to confess, this is one of my favorite things about the fall. The sunsets are brilliant and if you’re lucky enough to be up at sunrise, Hampton Roads is home to some gorgeous scenery at the break of dawn. Pause in the cool weather, take a moment, and enjoy the lovely natural beauty around here. If you need some inspiration, sunsets are one of my favorite things to Instagram!

The crisp breeze

If there’s one thing to love about Hampton Roads it’s that we’re an active community. Besides our water sports (for which it’s getting a little cold!) we have amazing biking, hiking, and running trails, plus a bunch of parks and playgrounds for your little ones. Dress in layers and get outside!

The tourists have retreated

Thanks for visiting guys, but HRVA natives sure do love getting our towns and traffic back to normal after Labor Day. Hampton Roads residents venture back to hot “tourist” spots and reclaim them as our own. Here are some things to do in Virginia Beach… what are some of your favorite things to do in your town?

Hayrides, bonfires, and fall fairs

Hampton Roads boasts both city and country. That means we have beer gardens and hayrides, pub crawls and haunted forests. We’re lucky to be temperate enough to enjoy outdoor activities into November (and beyond, with a good hat and pair of gloves) and there’s plenty to do here!

The spirit of community and giving back

We are, above all, a community. With the holidays approaching one doesn’t have to look too far to see calls for volunteers or events benefiting local charities, which is critical this time of year. Even if groups and individuals aren’t able to make financial contributions, Hampton Roads is great at banding together and supporting each other, even if it just means shopping locally and turning up for community events.
