The Currituck County Government has announced that they are taking applications for a soon to be built Habitat for Humanity home. The house is part of the charity’s North Carolina chapter’s plan to build a home in each of the states’ 100 counties.
The Currituck County Department of Social Services will help with the selection of the homeowner, with the final decision being made by Habitat for Humanity. Once the homeowner is selected, a group of volunteers will work on the project. The home could be a rehab or a new build.
The successful applicant must also complete a certain number of required hours of volunteer construction work during the building of the home and attend homeowner education classes.
Following the build, the charity will then offer the homeowner 0% financing on the mortgage loan for the house. Applicants must live or work in Currituck County.
