Peanut Butter for Parking?

Parking ticket at ODU? If you have a jar of peanut butter during homecoming week, it’s no problem.

Old Dominion University is accepting jars of peanut butter to waive certain parking citations during their homecoming week, Oct. 22 through Oct. 26.

Why peanut butter? The university says on their website that jars of peanut butter are one of the most highly requested items at food banks and yet, they are the least donated. All donations collected will go to the IGNITE Food Pantry.

Of course, there is some fine print to read here. The two parking citation types eligible for this exchange are parking without a permit (citation ID #1) and over the limit (citation ID #14).

A 16 ounce jar of peanut butter will be accepted for $15 citations and a 40 ounce jar of peanut butter will be accepted for a $75 citation. The peanut butter must not be opened or expired.

Only one citation per person can be waived with the peanut butter donation and, if you have any other citations, they must be paid at the time of the donation. If you appeal or re-appeal your citation, it will no longer be eligible.

ODU also says the $10 late fee for citations that are 60 days past due will be waived with the donation, but citations that are over 120 days past due are ineligible.
