Smithfield Foods is helping the victims of the recent floods in Baton Rouge. The company donated 25,000 pounds of meat to the more than 30 parishes that have been declared disaster zones in Louisiana.
The food products were prepared by Operation BBQ Relief, a nonprofit organization that provides hot meals to those in need following a disaster. Thousands of flood victims were served at a disaster relief event hosted by Sam’s Club at its Denham Springs, Louisiana locations.
Helping Hungry Homes is the initiative Smithfield created to help hungry people around the country. By joining forces with Sam’s Club and Operation BBQ Relief, Smithfield placed more than 100,000 servings of high-quality, nutrient-rich protein in the hands of flood victims.
